Incompetent Government, Inept Opposition - May 20206

Image
How long do you reckon before this inept Labor government collapses under the weight of its own incompetence and failures? Reckon they make it to the next election in two years? And I thought the Rudd, Gillard, Turnbull and Morrison governments were bad! (and they were). The recent budget from Dr Chalmers was initially met with distrust and contempt, but as more of us look deeper into the numbers, more people are realising just how reckless and stupid this government really is. A projected $31.5 billion deficit. Nearly $1 trillion in debt. That's $1,000,000,000,000. This government is addicted to spending money we don’t have, and spending it on things that create very little productivity, little growth, and little long-term wealth for ordinary Australians. How long do you reckon before Mr Albanese throws Mr Chalmers under the bus in a desperate attempt to shield himself from the consequences of this mess? Surely the knives must be out. How long can the poor, the middle class, and w...

Looking For Somewhere to Park My Vote - May 2026

I’ve been politically interested for all of my adult life. I became more politically active around 20 years ago, taking more notice of the Canberra circus. More recently I've been attending local meetings, and conferences such as CPAC and ARC . I’ve enjoyed robust and challenging conversations with new friends that I have met through these events. Since 2007 I have handed out How to Vote Cards at every state and federal election, and at each election I have supported different candidates. I am not a member of any political party. When an election comes around, I have looked at the candidates and made a decision on who to support based upon their policies, values, and principles. For several years now I have been looking for somewhere to park my vote, a party that I can support and hopefully have an input of some description. I live and work in the NSW wheat belt, and I am conservative politically and socially. Once upon a time that would automatically mean that I would support the...

ANZAC Day, and the meaning of Freedom - March 2026

Image
Each Anzac Day, my family along with millions of other Australians rise from their warm beds before daybreak to attend a local Anzac Day dawn service. These services take place in almost every city, town and locality across Australia and New Zealand. We pause to think about what Anzac Day means to us, and to the nation.  The young men and women who went to fight in foreign lands did so in support and defense of one simple idea: freedom. Freedom to speak, think, act and live their lives without interference from tyrants or oppressors. They fought for a society where they didn’t need permission from a government authority to enjoy a lifestyle of their choosing. They fought so that their children and our children could inherit a world that was better than their own, and where personal choice and personal liberty mattered. And now here we are, just a couple of generations later, and I can’t help but feel that we don't fully understand exactly what freedom is, or what it actually means....
